Cottage crafts was founded by me, Peter, in the beginning of 2009.

The whole idea started when we, my wife Lilo and I were trying to get cheese making equipment for us. We live north of Auckland on a 4.5 hectare block and one of my passion is Dairy Goats. We are milking two Saanen X Goats at the moment which provide us with enough milk to make all of our cheeses, yoghurts and kefir.

I strongly believe that more people are dreaming of making more things by themselves. But the difficulties to find the necessary equipment is holding a lot of them back. When I listen to people in our community and to our friends, most of them are desperate to find products for making cheeses, brewing beer, making wine and other activities I call "Cottage Crafts". This is the gap we are trying to close.

Our vision is to make all the equipment available people need for these "Cottage Crafts". We only sell products which we believe offer a good quality and are affordable. We work closely together with our friends who already are cheese makers or participate in other "crafty" activities!  This gives us the advantage to be close to the people who are actually using our products and we are grateful for the experience they pass on to us. This combined with the feedback we get from our customers helps us to permanently improve our products.
